UC is led by the Vice-Chancellor | Tumu Whakarae who is the equivalent of the Chief Executive of the University. The University Council | Te Kaunihera o Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha is the equivalent of the board of directors the Vice-Chancellor reports to. The Council is chaired by the Chancellor | Tumu Kaunihera, the equivalent of the chairman of the board.
