Julian Rincon is a Ph.D. candidate in Earthquake Engineering at the University of Canterbury. Julian’s current research interests lie in the seismic assessment and strengthening of reinforced concrete (RC) structures. More specifically, he aims to provide reliable and inexpensive strengthening methods suitable for developing countries and/or mass retrofit of large inventories of structures. The core of his doctoral research is the experimental testing of large-scale RC columns representative of those in older buildings not designed to withstand earthquake demands. Julian is a board member of QERC (QuakeCoRE Emerging Researcher Chapter) working in the area of disaster resilience.
