Emma Eden is a proud Kiwi who began her musical journey in Timaru, playing tenor horn in the Waimataitai School Brass Band.
After graduating with First Class Honours from Massey University in Wellington, Emma received a full scholarship to attend the Banff Summer Music School in Canada before moving to Toronto for further study. She was also awarded both the Winston Churchill Scholarship and the Auckland Philharmonia Foundation Scholarship, enabling her to undertake intensive study in Berlin with members of the Berlin Philharmonic horn section.
While living in Wellington, Emma won both the Second and First Horn positions with Orchestra Wellington before being appointed Principal Third Horn with the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, a position she held and enjoyed for more than ten years.
In 2020, Emma was delighted to return to the South Island to join the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra as Principal Horn. Alongside her orchestral career, she teaches at the University of Canterbury, maintains a private horn studio, and runs Hop and Hum, her preschool music programme.
