Wright Mills Scholarship in Anthropology | $3,750 per annum | Available annually to students enrolled, or intending to enrol, full time or part time, at the University of Canterbury in a programme for an MA by thesis in Anthropology or a PhD in Anthropology. | The scholarship is open to graduates of any university in New Zealand or of the University of the South Pacific. | 1-Nov |
Ethel Rose Overton Scholarship | PhD students: Up to $30,000 ($10,000 pa) MFA students: $7,500 BFA(Hons) and MA (Part II) students: $5,000 BA(Hons) and MA (Part I) students: $3,000 | Applicants must be enrolled, or intending to enrol, at the University in a programme for one of the following degrees: a. Farina Thompson Charitable Trust Music Scholarship | $10,000 | Applicants must be enrolled, or intending to enrol, full-time at the University in a degree programme with a major in Music. | Applicants must be citizens of New Zealand or holders of New Zealand residence class visas. | 1-Nov |
Three Nations Conference Award | $1,000 | Māori or Pasifika students, or students who are indigenous to states or territories of Australia, whose financial circumstances would otherwise preclude them from undertaking postgraduate study in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at the University of Canterbury. | a. have whakapapa Māori; and/or be Pasifika. | 31-Mar |
Edward Gibbon Wakefield Doctoral Scholarship | The value will be determined by the level of the Scholarship’s funds, including supplementation from Christ Church, Oxford, and should be sufficient to meet at least most of the direct costs associated with one year’s study at Oxford University. | Open to University of Canterbury doctoral students in all subject areas; however, preference will be given to applicants studying a subject in the Humanities, Creative Arts, Law, Music, or Political Science.
