About the Event
Join us in celebrating and recognising the hard work of UC Doctoral and Master’s research students in the combined prizegiving for our Exhibit Your Thesis, Visualise Your Thesis and Three Minute Thesis competitions. With a showcase of accomplished students from across our Faculties, you will hear about the important, innovative research happening right here in our community. We also have kai, spot prizes and voting for the 3MT people’s choice awards, so plenty of reasons to come along, learn about the exciting graduate research happening across campus as well as connecting with others from UC and beyond.
3MT (Three Minute Thesis) We have challenged our students to sum up their thesis in only three minutes. Tonight, we hold the finals which see the winners of each faculty’s heats compete to win a first place prize of $3,000 Research Grant, second place $1,500 Research Grant, third place $750 Research Grant and a $500 People's Choice Research Grant. The top Doctoral candidate will represent UC at the Asia-Pacific finals event, hosted by the University of Queensland.
This year’s competition is proudly brought to you by the Te Kura Tāura | UC Graduate School and sponsored by Research First.
VYT (Visualise Your Thesis) Our students use their creative and technical skills to produce a 1 minute audio-visual presentation which summarises their thesis. The first-place winner get a prize of $1,000 and entry into the International Visualise Your Thesis competition, second place is awarded $500 and third place $250. There is also a people’s choice award for $250 so have you say by voting before the event at: (Link to be announced once submissions closed)
This year’s competition is proudly brought to you by UC Puna | UC Library.
EYT (Exhibit Your Thesis) Our research students look to design a creative poster to communicate their research to a wider UC community. With a top prize of $750 for first place, $500 for second and $250 for third. There is also a People's Choice Award which you can vote in by viewing the posters on the UC Campus the week prior the event.
