Honor is a PhD candidate in the CELTS Research Group of the UC_CNRE. She began her PhD research in July of this year after completing a Masters in Māori and Indigenous Leadership with Aotahi School of Māori and Indigenous Studies. Her research interests lie at the intersection of civil engineering and indigenous theory, with application to infrastructure development in Aotearoa New Zealand. Research supervisors are Assoc. Professor Aisling O’Sullivan and Dr Ricardo Bello Mendoza.

The Water Wellbeing presentation outlined the global and national need for decision-support tools that are informed by diverse cultural values and knowledge bases, and that prioritise the wellbeing of ecosystems. Along with this, Honor outlined her proposed research to develop a Water Wellbeing framework for the selection of Clean Water Technologies in Aotearoa New Zealand. This research is funded by the UC Pasifika Doctoral Scholarship, and Science for Technological Innovation (SfTI) National Science Challenge as part of the spearhead project, ‘Clean Water Technology for restoring Te Mana o te Wai’.
