Te Kura Umanga | UC Business School offers three categories of awards for international students:
- Dean’s Award
- South East Asia Award
- Fast Track Award
These awards are applied as a tuition fee reduction, with eligibility assessed as part of the application process for eligible programmes. There is no need to submit a separate application.

The award will be continued at the same value beyond the first year in this qualification, if a student achieves a B+ average in the preceding year (for a maximum of two additional years or until the degree is completed, whatever comes first). This means students can receive up to $10,500 over the course of the Bachelor of Commerce degree.

Eligibility criteria
Eligibility for these awards varies depending on a student’s country of citizenship and the country where they completed their qualifying degree.
Dean’s Award
Enrolling in the Bachelor of Commerce for the first time with:
- Tier 1 score in the Chinese National College Entrance Examination (Gaokao).
- A- average or better in the UCIC Foundation Studies Certificate, or another New Zealand university Foundation Studies programme.
- B+ average or better in the UCIC UTP programme.
- 75% average or better in an eligible UC Business School Chinese dual degree programme or advanced standing pathway.
- 60% average or better in the NCUK International Year One Business programme.
Enrolling in an eligible UC Business School postgraduate programme for the first time with:
- 80% average or better in the final two years of a Chinese undergraduate degree at a project university.
- 85% average or better in the final two years of a Chinese undergraduate degree at a non-project university.
- A- GPA or better in the final two years of a UC or other New Zealand undergraduate degree.
- A- equivalent GPA or better in the final two years of an undergraduate degree from any country.
- A- score or better in the CCEL EAP 2 programme.
- B+ average or better in the Certificate of Proficiency component of a 3+1+1 pathway.
Fast Track Award
Students enrolling in the Bachelor of Commerce for the first time, not eligible for a Dean’s Award, who have achieved university entrance at a New Zealand high school in the 12 months prior to their proposed UC commencement date.
Dean’s Award
Enrolling in the Bachelor of Commerce for the first time with:
- 80% average or better in the Indian School Certificate (ISC) or All-India Senior School Certificate (AISSC).
- A- average or better in the UCIC Foundation Studies Certificate, or another New Zealand university Foundation Studies programme.
- B+ average or better in the UCIC UTP programme.
- 60% average or better from an eligible UC Business School Indian dual degree programme or advanced standing pathway at an elite institution; 65% average or better at a Section 1 institution; 70% average or better at a Section 2 institution; or, 75% average or better at a Section 3 institution.
- 60% average or better in the NCUK International Year One Business programme.
Enrolling in an eligible UC Business School postgraduate programme for the first time with:
- 65%/7.0 average or better in the final two years of an Indian undergraduate degree at an elite institution.
- 70%/7.5 average or better in the final two years of an Indian undergraduate degree at a Section 1 institution.
- 75%/8.0 average or better in the final two years of an Indian undergraduate degree at a Section 2 institution.
- 80%/8.5 average or better in the final two years of an Indian undergraduate degree at a Section 3 institution.
- A- GPA or better in the final two years of a UC or other New Zealand undergraduate degree.
- A- equivalent GPA or better in the final two years of an undergraduate degree from any country.
- A- score or better in the CCEL EAP 2 programme.
Fast Track Award
Students enrolling in the Bachelor of Commerce for the first time, not eligible for a Dean’s Award, who have achieved university entrance at a New Zealand high school in the 12 months prior to their proposed UC commencement date.
Dean’s Award
Enrolling in the Bachelor of Commerce for the first time with:
- 3.5/4 CGPA or better in an eligible UC Business School Indonesian dual degree programme or advanced standing pathway.
- A- average or better in the UCIC Foundation Studies Certificate, or another New Zealand university Foundation Studies programme.
- B+ average or better in the UCIC UTP programme.
- 60% average or better in the NCUK International Year One Business programme.
Enrolling in an eligible UC Business School postgraduate programme for the first time with:
- 3.7 GPA or better in the final two years of an undergraduate degree at Universitas Indonesia.
- 3.75 GPA or better in the final two years of an undergraduate degree at all other Indonesian universities.
- A- GPA or better in the final two years of a UC or other New Zealand undergraduate degree.
- A- equivalent GPA or better in the final two years of an undergraduate degree from any country.
- A- score or better in the CCEL EAP 2 programme.
South East Asia Award
All students enrolling at UC for the first time, in the Bachelor of Commerce, or an eligible UC Business School postgraduate programme, not eligible for a Dean’s Award or from the UCIC UTP programme.
Dean’s Award
Enrolling in the Bachelor of Commerce for the first time with:
- 3.5/4 CGPA or better an eligible UC Business School Malaysian dual degree programme or advanced standing pathway.
- A- average or better in the UCIC Foundation Studies Certificate, or another New Zealand university Foundation Studies programme.
- B+ average or better in the UCIC UTP programme.
- 60% average or better in the NCUK International Year One Business programme.
Enrolling in an eligible UC Business School postgraduate programme for the first time with:
- 3.75 GPA or better in the final two years of an undergraduate degree at a Malaysian university.
- A- GPA or better in the final two years of a UC or other New Zealand undergraduate degree.
- A- equivalent GPA or better in the final two years of an undergraduate degree from any country.
- A- score or better in the CCEL EAP 2 programme.
South East Asia Award
All students enrolling at UC for the first time, in the Bachelor of Commerce, or an eligible UC Business School postgraduate programme, not eligible for a Dean’s Award or from the UCIC UTP programme.
Dean’s Award
Enrolling in the Bachelor of Commerce for the first time with:
- A- average or better in the UCIC Foundation Studies Certificate, or another New Zealand university Foundation Studies programme.
- B+ average or better in the UCIC UTP programme.
- 60% average or better in the NCUK International Year One Business programme.
Enrolling in an eligible UC Business School postgraduate programme for the first time with:
- 3.75 GPA or better in the final two years of an undergraduate degree at a Thai university.
- A- GPA or better in the final two years of a UC or other New Zealand undergraduate degree.
- A- equivalent GPA or better in the final two years of an undergraduate degree from any country.
- A- score or better in the CCEL EAP 2 programme.
South East Asia Award
All students enrolling at UC for the first time, in the Bachelor of Commerce, or an eligible UC Business School postgraduate programme, not eligible for a Dean’s Award or from the UCIC UTP programme.
Dean’s Award
Enrolling in the Bachelor of Commerce for the first time with:
- A- average or better in the UCIC Foundation Studies Certificate, or another New Zealand university Foundation Studies programme.
- B+ average or better in the UCIC UTP programme.
Enrolling in an eligible UC Business School postgraduate programme for the first time with:
- 3.75/4 or 8/10 GPA or better in the final two years of an undergraduate degree at a Vietnamese university.
- A- GPA or better in the final two years of a UC or other New Zealand undergraduate degree.
- A- equivalent GPA or better in the final two years of an undergraduate degree from any country.
- A- score or better in the CCEL EAP 2 programme.
South East Asia Award
All students enrolling at UC for the first time, in the Bachelor of Commerce, or an eligible UC Business School postgraduate programme, not eligible for a Dean’s Award or from the UCIC UTP programme.
Dean’s Award
Enrolling in the Bachelor of Commerce for the first time with:
- A- average or better in the UCIC Foundation Studies Certificate, or another New Zealand university Foundation Studies programme.
- B+ average or better in the UCIC UTP programme.
- 60% average or better in the NCUK International Year One Business programme.
- qualifying grades deemed to be in the vicinity of an A- equivalent, where they are not covered by the above, or eligible for a South East Asia Award or Fast Track Award. Enquiries should be made to the UC Business School Internationalisation Team.
Enrolling in an eligible UC Business School postgraduate programme for the first time with:
- A- GPA or better in the final two years of a UC or other New Zealand undergraduate degree.
- A- equivalent GPA or better in the final two years of an undergraduate degree from any country.
- A- score or better in the CCEL EAP 2 programme.
South East Asia Award
Students enrolling at UC for the first time, in the Bachelor of Commerce, or an eligible UC Business School postgraduate programme, not eligible for a Dean’s Award or from the UCIC UTP programme, whose country of citizenship is one of the following countries: Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Timor-Leste.
Fast Track Award
Students enrolling in the Bachelor of Commerce for the first time, not eligible for a Dean’s Award or South East Asia Award, who have achieved university entrance at a New Zealand high school in the 12 months prior to their proposed UC commencement date.
Students must also meet the other conditions outlined in the relevant award regulations, including being and remaining a full-time international student in good standing in the eligible programme:
