Jovanie Camacho Espesor is a professor of Political Science in the Mindanao State University- General Santos City, Philippines. He received his PhD in Political Science from the Department of Political Science and International Relations from the University of Canterbury (2019), with scholarship grants from the Government of New Zealand and the European Union Centre Network. Jovanie is a board member of the Research Committee on Conflict, Security and Democratization of the International Political Science Association. He is also a research fellow of the Centre for Middle East and Global Peace Studies of the National Islamic University of Indonesia. His area of research interest intersects the disciplinary boundaries of Political Science, Anthropology, Critical Security and Development Studies. He publishes peer-reviewed articles on peacebuilding, development and security issues in the southern Philippines and Aceh, Indonesia. Jovanie is currently serving as the special assistant to the Chancellor of the Mindanao State University- General Santos City. He also provided consultancy services to the World Bank, Save the Children, Asian Development Bank and International Alert. Finally, he is an avid landscape and portrait photographer.
