Special Topic

This course provides an opportunity for students to pursue individual research projects under the supervision of an academic staff member in the School of Music.

Learning Outcomes

Students who pass this course will be able to:
*  Propose, develop, and investigate a research topic under academic supervision.
*  Formulate successful search strategies using library catalogues and databases, bibliographic tools, and internet resources.
*  Construct an effective research proposal.
*  Evaluate a range of scholarly and general sources.
*  Justify a position on a particular topic.
*  Present research findings in scholarly written language.

Prerequisites

(1) MUSI242 or MUSI243 or MUSI245; or (2) MUSI251 and either MUSI130 or MUSI131.

In a course at 100- or 200-level examiners may grant restricted credit (R) which will be equivalent to a pass for all purposes except as a prerequisite.
