Individually led research project to be negotiated with course supervisor.
Following on from the body of work they have generated the previous year the 401 student will continue to refine their particular interests and develop a much stronger and more clearly articulated sense of their own practice and where that might be heading. Students at this level will exhibit a more complex and in-depth understanding of where their work is located contextually relative to similar modes of practice/research. We also expect students at this level to engage with an appropriate/relevant community that already exists around the kind of practice the student is investigating. As in the previous year all DESI401 students will propose a structure to their year’s work. At this level it will take the form of a Directed Research Proposal (DRP). This document remains fluid during the year and can be updated as the nature of the student's work evolves, but the initial DRP must be completed and handed into both lecturers by the second week of the first term.Students will begin the year by meeting individually with the lecturers to discuss their results from the previous year and any ideas or plans they have for this final year of their Degree. These meetings will take place at the end of the first week back. A schedule of individual meeting times will be handed out on the first day of term. Outside of organised meetings and critiques lecturers are available by appointment.
