Description

This course is designed for students wanting to apply the skills that they have learnt during their Science degree to a work-based learning experience. You will gain practical experience working in a science or technology based business or organisation enabling you to gain many useful skills for when you enter the workforce. You will have the opportunity to learn how to be more innovative and entrepreneurial as well as learn some basic business skills. This will ultimately provide you with a competitive advantage for whatever you choose to do next whether it is to enter the workforce or enter postgraduate study.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course, students will be able to:

1. Analyse and apply the knowledge and skills gained from their science majors to a science or technology based business or organisation
2. Analyse and solve science or technology based problems in a science or technology based business or organisation
3. Effectively plan and communicate science or technology based information either verbally or in writing

Prerequisites

105 points, including 45 points at 200-level. Special application and interview, with permission of Internship Manager. RP: Students should attend UC careers CV writing and interview skills workshop prior to submitting internship application

Timetable Note

There is no set timetable time for this course. There will be a series of short lectures at the beginning of the course and tutorials throughout the semester. The times for these sessions will be determined at the beginning of the semester.
