Description

Introduction to Electrical and Computer Engineering design principles. Electronic circuit simulation leading to a design-and-build project including circuit design and simulation, printed circuit board design, and construction of a working device with documentation. Documentation preparation.

Topics covered include:
● Mechanical analysis, drawing and design using Solidworks
● Circuit analysis and simulation using TINA
● PCB design and assembly using KiCAD
● Engineering design process

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this course, the student will be able to:
● implement basic top-down design methodologies
● produce mechanical drawing and designs suitable for 3D printing
● perform circuit analysis, design and simulation using software tools
● design, construct and test a simple PCB board
● build and test a prototype project
● communicate their work in a design report
