This course looks at recent tendencies in contemporary art practice, as well as looking at key critical and theoretical texts relating to current art practice.
This course examines key critical and theoretical texts relating to current art practice and recent tendencies in international art practice, and methodological approaches to contemporary art history. It aims to provide students with an in-depth understanding of key developments in recent art practice and criticism. The course also examines current curatorial and exhibition practices and their impact on contemporary art making.
On completion of this course students should demonstrate: a broad awareness of current trends in contemporary art practice. knowledge of key theoretical debates in contemporary art discourse. sound understanding of methodological approaches in the study of art history. the ability to think critically and engage in self-driven research activities. an advanced understanding of key issues involved in writing and thinking about contemporary art and criticism a vocabulary available to deal with the critical, aesthetic and historical questions raised by works of art.
