Each student will be required to pursue an individual programme and to cultivate methods appropriate to it. Group discussions and slide presentations are an integral part of the course. Full documentation of year's work required.
Students will be expected to devise a comprehensive proposal outlining their self-directed body of work for the year (Directed Research Proposal - DRP). Students will be required to conceptualise their point of departure and indicate how they intend to realise their ideas with reference to source material, technique, media, historical precedents and other qualifying factors that may guide their line of inquiry. The Directed Research Proposal remains fluid during the year and can be updated as the nature of the student's work evolves, but the initial DRP must be completed and handed in to the supervising lecturer by the second week of the first term. The initial proposal will be no more than 500 words and can be supported by working drawings, source material or any other means that suitably conveys intent.
