Computational Fluid Mechanics
This course is an introduction to the concepts of fluid dynamics and numerical methods for partial differential equations. By combining these concepts the student will be able to carry out numerical experiments involving fluid flows found in aerodynamics and hydrodynamics applications. Topics covered will chosen from: Derivation of basic equations of fluid mechanics. Numerical methods for discretizing partial differential equations; Finite differences, Finite Volumes and Finite Elements. Grid generation. Applications. For a full list of 2014 Honours courses, please refer to the Department of Mathematics and Statistics Honours Booklet Mathematics and Statistics Honours Booklet
