This course will give you an insight into the excitement and challenge associated with introducing and leading change, especially strategic change, in organisations. The course is based on Associate Professor Nilakant’s change management model that views change management as addressing four complex tasks: a. appreciating change, b. mobilising support, c. executing change, and d. building change capability.
This course takes an in-depth look at the dynamics of organisational change equipping the experienced leader with the strategic thinking frameworks and practical tools to lead successful change projects. Each participant will critically analyse a change inquiry in their own setting and throughout the course design a customised change initiative. This will be informed by a range of contemporary change frameworks including complexity based systems. This change initiative will include strategies for growing engagement, motivation and commitment within an organisation. Leaders will be gain action competence in tools to developing capability including; fostering interaction, leveraging collective intelligence, creating ownership and empowerment and fostering interdependence. At the completion of the course participants will be equipped with a range of strategies with which to successfully lead positive and sustainable change.
Through this course, you will;Extend your thinking about the nature of complex human and organisational behaviour Explore assumptions and mental models that underlie leadership roles and organisational structures in order to critically reflect on enablers and barriers to change. Unpack the Cynefin systems thinking framework (Simple, Complicated, Complex and Chaotic modes) and categorise your change initiative in order to select appropriate change strategies for each mode. Apply systems thinking tools to map causality networks in complex environmentsSelect leverage points and develop strategic actions to guide leadership decisions Develop a detailed understanding of Adaptive Leadership and a toolkit of practical strategies that can be readily implementedGrow leadership capability to foster engagement and lead cultural change across your organisation Apply the principles of Positive Psychology to organisational and individual change and understand the Appreciative Inquiry model
