Special Topic: Creative Writing

Special Topic 2005-06: Creative Writing

This course presents the apprentice writer with fundamental concepts in creative writing and offers ways of developing skills basic to the production of fiction and poetry.  In 18 two-hour classes, it moves from a study of imagery through character, plot, narration, form and setting, to a study of classic themes of imaginative literature such as rebirth, the monster, ghost stories, mysteries and transformation and the notion of the dead end.  It concludes with a session on drafting and publication.
