Description

In this course, students learn the fundamentals of articulatory, laryngeal and neurological pathophysiology and apply this knowledge to voice and motor speech disorders assessment and therapy. Emphasis is on building clinical competency with evidence based practice in the assessment and management of voice and motor speech problems, and a solid foundation of knowledge about the theories and methods relating to voice and motor speech. On the basis of novel cases, students will identify, differentiate, and describe voice and motor speech disorders and critically examine methods of assessment and intervention as suited for the bicultural context of Aotearoa New Zealand context.
