Description

Students prepare a portfolio of representative creative work. The course is geared towards musicians whose creative practice spans more than one discipline, for example composer-performers, singer-songwriters, songwriter-producers. Students wishing to explore music making in combination with other art forms, for example film or visual art, can also take the course as long as an appropriate supervisory team can be found.

Learning Outcomes

  • Preparation of a portfolio of representative creative work (compositions, songs, performances,
    recordings, installation work, or any combination thereof).
  • Knowledge of contemporary trends relevant to the student's creative practice.
  • Ability to articulate an approach to creative practice and provide a context for one's work in
    written or verbal form (e.g. program notes, pre-concert talk, radio interview).

Prerequisites

MUSA398 Capstone Project and permission of the Head of School

Timetable Note

Supervisory meetings: 1 hour / week

Student workload (600 hours) will be allocated to:
• 24 hours attending one-to-one meetings with supervisor(s)
• 36 hours attending composition and / or performance workshops
• 540 hours self-directed study
