Description

Te Marau a-iwi is delivered in a bilingual setting under the mana of Ngai Tahu. It will focus on developing the curriculum knowledge of kaupapa Maori education documents such as Te Marautanga, Te Aho Matua, Te Whariki and others. This course seeks to develop a deeper understanding of kaupapa Maori theories, pedagogies through the use of kaupapa Maori educational frameworks.

Learning Outcomes

On the successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. Develop teaching philosophy, approaches, resources, and learning and assessment activities based on a thorough knowledge of curriculum content, pedagogy, progressions in kaupapa Māori settings.
2. Strengthening kaiako te reo Māori and knowledge capacity.
3. Explore curriculum documents and educational policies pertinent to Māori Medium and kaupapa Māori educational settings. Interpret learning achievement outcomes ( e.g. Te Marautanga, Te Aho Matua, Te Whāriki, Te Whatu Pōkekā etc) through a mana whenua lens.
