Description

This online course focuses on providing learners with a foundation in instructional design, the cornerstone of the learning design field. This course unpacks the instructional design process and introduces fundamental models and theories relating to online learning. We will discuss the role of the instructional designer, engage with some of the most prevalent instructional design models and frameworks, explore ways to identify and understand learner needs and learning contexts to design an instructional strategy, and develop an online learning module prototype. In addition, we will create design documentation for each step of the process and an evaluation plan to determine the effectiveness of the course design. The course gives the learners a wider appreciation for the processes that occur in the development of online learning and how different stakeholders can engage in the process. This is targeted at learners that have no or minimal background in instructional design and would like to transition to or upskill in an instructional design role.
