UC Child Well-being Products

UC's Child Well-being research institutes sells readers and story books for young children. They've been designed to support class teaching activities as part of our Better Start Literacy Approach. Check out the UC child well-being books in our CWRI shop.

Better Start Literacy Approach (BSLA) Supplementary Readers

These readers for young children have been designed to support class teaching activities as part of the Better Start Literacy Approach. Each set contains 1 copy of each of the 15 titles in this series, and can be used to supplement class small group reading instruction and/or for Tier 2 teaching within the Better Start Literacy Approach. These readers are small book size 18cmx18cm.

 

 

Core Set titles are:

Mot and Don, A Fun Run, A New Cup, Bat Needs a Nap, Hemi's Pot, Ika the Mudfish, Mot and the Cap, Mot the Fat Cat, A New Zealand Frog, Pam's Bee Sting, Pam's Top, Rat's Ride, Tama and Big Ted, The Big Wind, Weka Chick is Lost.

 

Extension Pack titles are:

Sit, Mac!, Troy's Toys, Kiwi in the Night, Kate Makes a Cake, Pat It Up, Mac the Pup, Kate's Big Game, Mot in the Pot, Dad and the Tap, Tama's Pants Are Too Small, Mud on Don, No Running at the Pool.

Full set titles are: as listed in both groups, above.

 

Price includes delivery to anywhere in New Zealand and orders are sent out from the University once a week. Please note, these products are not available for 'pickup'.

Words Can POP Children's Story Books

This selection of story books for young children have been designed to support the learning of early developing letters and sounds, and interesting words, in alignment with the Better Start Literacy Approach teaching.  These stories are suitable for use at home, in early childcare centres and in school classrooms. Each book includes detailed reading notes on how to use the book to develop hildren's word knowledge, oral language, phonological awareness and print knowledge. Each set contains 1 copy of each of the A4 sized 16 titles in this series.
