UC's Campus Master Plan  has been created to respond to the current context of higher education in New Zealand, as well as the immediate imperatives as a consequence of the 2011 earthquakes.

In order to help the University achieve its Strategic Objectives, ten design principles have been developed which were informed by user group consultations, interviews, analysis, research and envisioning workshops.

These design principles guide fundamental recommendations for the structure of the campus, and the nature and design of all key projects and initiatives, all of which remain subject to Business Case approval to proceed.

A staged approach is proposed with major milestone points at 2023 for the 150 year Jubilee, post Jubilee through to 2045, and future expansion beyond 2045.

Summaries of the design principles, the incorporation of the Cultural Narrative and the staged approach are provided below. If you would like a copy of the full Campus Master Plan, please contact capitalworks@canterbury.ac.nz.
