Orientation+ online induction modules

Everything you need to know for your first year at UC

Orientation+ online induction modules

The modules are designed to give students their best start at UC and are compulsory for all first-year undergraduate students. The topics covered include an introduction to UC, study, wellbeing, the UC community, and safety and security.

Completing the modules is a really important part of your introduction. They are designed to help you make the transition into university life easier, understand your responsibilities as part of the UC community, learn information critical to your success and find out about the support services available on campus.

Get started – it won’t take long

Step 1: Go to ucstart.canterbury.ac.nz

Step 2: Click 'Sign Up' and create an account. From the drop-down list for the organisation, use either:

  • 'University of Canterbury - Summer School 2020/2021' and 'UC2020' for the password
  • 'University of Canterbury - Semester 1, 2021' and 'UC2021' for the password

You can then put in your email address (either your uclive email address or a personal one such as Gmail), a password of your own choosing, and your student ID (an 8 digit number you receive from UC during enrolment - eg, 12342020).

Step 3: Go through and complete the modules!

If you have any problems signing up or logging in, contact our provider directly – email contact@alcocups.com.

It doesn’t take long to complete each module – between 5 to 15 minutes – and you don’t have to complete them all at once.
