Careers staff and international directors play a vital role in providing information and advice to secondary school students about their future tertiary study options.

UC Update Day is an opportunity for secondary school advisors to learn more about what UC has to offer. This exciting two-day offering over 24-25 June includes:

Day One: Monday 24 June 2019

This first day is aimed at those from outside the Waitaha Canterbury region and/or those who haven’t visited UC’s accommodation options recently. It includes:

  • A welcome morning tea
  • Accommodation updates based in Bishop Julius Hall
  • A UC campus tour
  • Lunch at College House
  • A visit to the new Tūranga library to learn the city's story with Christchurch NZ

Welcome Dinner: Monday 24 June

UC will host a Welcome Dinner in the central city in the evening. All who register for either day are invited to attend.

Day One Programme
10.00am Airport collection and transfer to Bishop Julius Hall
10.30am Registration and welcome morning tea at Bishop Julius Hall
10.50am Welcome and overview of the day
10.55am Intro and updates on UC accommodation options
11.30am Depart Bishop Julius Hall on UC Campus Tour
12.30pm Lunch at College House
1.30pm Transport from College House to Tūranga library
2.00pm Christchurch NZ session at Tūranga library 
3.00pm Check in at Distinction Christchurch Hotel
4.00pm Free time
5.30pm Arrive at dinner venue Botanic
6.00pm Dinner at Botanic
8.00pm Return to Distinction Christchurch Hotel (or free time)

Day Two: Tuesday 25 June 2019

This day features:

  • Keynote presentation from UC Vice-Chancellor | Tumu Whakarae, Professor Cheryl de la Rey
  • Your choice of three sessions of College Information Workshops
  • An overview of the UC7 attributes and how we prepare students to change the world
  • An insight into how we support students' transition to UC
  • Tours of the exciting new Rehua building
Day Two Programme
8.00am Transport from Distinction Christchurch Hotel to campus
8.15am Transport from Airport to campus for Day Two arrivals
8.30am Registration opens, tea and coffee served
9.00am Welcome and overview of the day
9.10am Keynote speech from Professor Cheryl de la Rey, Vice-Chancellor | Tumu Whakarae
9.35am Liaison update presentation
10.00am Morning tea
10.30am First College Information Workshop
11.05am Second College Information Workshop
11.40pm Third College Information Workshop
12.10pm Lunch (Te Moana, Rehua)
1.00pm Bachelor of Communication presentation
1.30pm Bachelor of Youth and Community Leadership presentation
