Eke Tangaroa | Celebration for Māori graduates and graduands

Eke Tangaroa Celebration - April 2023

UC Māori are pleased to announce details about the upcoming Eke Tangaroa ceremony, which will be held on Wednesday 5th April starting at 9:30AM.

If you are an ākonga Māori and you are graduating this April, we would love for you to attend Eke Tangaroa. Please click HERE to register.

Please note: Registrations will close on Sunday 26th March – we will be unable to accept any late registrations after this date.

Arrival Requirements

We kindly ask that graduands and graduates arrive at the Engineering Core by no later than 9:00am. This will allow us time to go over the presentation process; and ensure you and your whānau are seated and ready for the ceremony to start at 9:30am.

Graduation Booklet

Graduation booklets containing the names of all those graduands and graduates attending Eke Tangaroa will be available at the ceremony.

It is important that you provide us with the correct details upon registering ie your name and iwi (the information that you provide us with will be printed in the booklets).

Academic Regalia

Graduates are required to wear academic regalia to Eke Tangaroa. Ākonga are encouraged to wear their family korowai or taonga over their gown – the hood must be worn on top of the korowai.

If your graduation ceremony is the day before Eke Tangaroa, please contact Graduate Women (03 369 0604) Canterbury, UC Dovedale Campus, Cnr Dovedale & Solway Ave, Ilam, Christchurch 8041 (Parking in carpark 2 you will see our main entrance). This means you will return your gown the following day. If you are graduating the day after Eke Tangaroa, ask if you can pick up your gown earlier.
