Available Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS)
The School of Earth and Environment has a CAA Part 102 authorisation for drone flying in New Zealand. Our fleet of fixed- and rotary-wing aerial vehicles are used for a variety of research projects and teaching. We not only deploy standard sensor packages (cameras) for routine geospatial mapping but also custom made advanced probes for rapid sampling of the atmosphere close to the ground. We also have a range of sensors including multispectral and thermal that can be mounted on both fixed wing and multirotor drones. The School has been involved with drones since 2010 and has a vast array of both drones, sensors and experienced technicians.
