The NUTRIMUM Trial

The NUTRIMUM Trial is looking to see whether a vitamin and mineral (multi-nutrient) supplement can improve symptoms of low mood and anxiety in pregnant people. Participants needed

Participants enrolled in the NUTRIMUM Trial will be randomised to receive either a multi-nutrient supplement or an iodine supplement for 12 weeks. After 12 weeks, all participants will have the opportunity to take the multi-nutrient formula until the birth of their child. Both capsules contain the New Zealand Ministry of Health recommendation for the daily intake of iodine during pregnancy.

Participants in the NUTRIMUM Trial will talk with our researchers every four weeks and complete online questionnaires. They will receive mental health oversight throughout the duration of their pregnancy as part of participating in the study.

We are looking for pregnant people:

  • 16 years of age or older
  • Between 12-24 weeks pregnant
  • Having one baby
  • Living in New Zealand
  • Feeling low in mood, anxious, overwhelmed, worried, irritable or on edge.
