In the Physical Acoustics Lab at the University of Auckland, we interrogate heterogeneous media with elastic waves from ultrasonic to seismic frequencies. Here, I will present an overview of these activities with applications including Seismic tomography of the Auckland Volcanic Field with ocean noise, Resonant Ultrasound Spectroscopy of rocks, fruit and ice, as well as educational activities around our network of school seismometers.
