The systematic modulation of the structural components in materials is integral to understanding their formation and their properties. This talk will detail the design and preparation of three ligand families and discuss the structures and properties of the materials they form in combination with transition metal salts.
The ligand families include a series based upon the N1-acylamidrazone functional group; numerous 2,2':6',2''-terpyridine-4,4''-dicarboxylic acid derivatives and functionalised phenolic oxime ligands (Figure 1). The modulation of these ligands along with the choice of metal ion, counter anion and reaction stoichiometry in each series will be presented.
