Natural product-inspired molecules have found widespread use as tools in chemical biology in dissecting the molecular pathways for diseases. The molecular structural complexity of natural products limits their use as therapeutic agents owing to their poor phamacokinetics and difficulty in synthesis on a large scale.
Our research group have been engaged in developing molecular tools in search of new therapeutics targets by developing methodologies and protocols for the synthesis of natural product-inspired molecules. This talk will focus on our approach for the synthesis of highly potent anticancer drug Eribulin derived hybrid molecules which have been shown to be highly active anticancer molecules with novel properties as tools for new protein targets.
