Abstract
Electrochemistry involves the transfer of electrons between a chemical species and an electrode surface. However electrode surfaces are often heterogeneous, especially when observed at the nanoscale. We use scanning electrochemical cell microscopy to reveal that grain-boundaries in poly-crystalline gold have enhanced rates of electrochemical CO2 reduction.
