Leigh and Judith Pownall Scholarship

Description

This scholarship was established in 2012 from a bequest of Mrs Judith Pownall (nee Whittaker), widow of Dr Leigh Pownall, for the "advancement of education" in Geography and Music at the University. Up to eight scholarships are currently available: up to four for applicants intending to major in Geography, and up to four for applicants intending to major in Music.

APPLYING FOR THIS SCHOLARSHIP
Applications for scholarships for those joining UC in 2019 have now closed. Applications for those intending to start studies in 2020 will open in June 2019.

Eligibility

Applicants must be citizens of New Zealand or holders of New Zealand residence class visas. They must have completed, or be completing, a University Entrance qualification or equivalent, and have studied at secondary level, either in New Zealand or overseas, in the year of application (or, in the case of a gap year, in the year immediately prior to the year of application). The scholarship is tenable by students enrolled full-time in their first year of a programme at the University for an undergraduate degree with a major in Geography and/or Music.
