Investing with us

The University of Canterbury has a successful track record of developing and commercialising intellectual property. We work closely with our partners to commercialise our intellectual property rather than attempting to commercialise it ourselves. We seek to achieve private sector involvement as early as possible, and value the commercial perspective and discipline this early involvement brings.

UC works with a number of commercialisation partners. Each partner has a distinctive investment appetite and network. The University seeks to match its intellectual property to a partner with a compatible appetite and sees this as the best path to achieving commercial impact.

We can access PreSeed Accelerator Fund investment to develop intellectual property to an investment-ready state for high-potential opportunities. We look to early private sector involvement to align our efforts with market requirements and to maximise commercial impact.

We welcome opportunities to engage with investment groups and potential commercialisation partners. Agreements are in place with our existing partners, giving these partners visibility to our intellectual property portfolio. We work to understand the interests and appetites of our current partners, and alert them when new opportunities arise that will be of particular interest.

Please contact our IP & Commercialisation team to explore commercialisation partnership opportunities.
