At the COP28 summit currently taking place in Dubai there have been discussions about the needs and rights of communities displaced by climate change.
In what’s been described as a major breakthrough, an agreement has been made on a “loss and damage” fund to compensate vulnerable countries.
However, UC Postdoctoral Research Fellow Dalila Gharbaoui argues for the protection of states that are threatened by the forthcoming impacts of climate change.
She proposes that in order to accelerate progress, inclusive climate action is required.
