Under alert level 2 (Thursday 14 May until further notice) we are excited to be re-opening our libraries.
This will be in phases starting with Puaka-James Hight (Central) Library from 9am Thursday, 14 May.
PJH Library initial opening hours will be 9am - 9pm Monday - Friday and 10am - 6pm on weekends. It'll be open for study, use of computers, printing, and issuing/returns of library items (including high demand collection and pick up of holds).
The PJH Library information desk will not be staffed - queries about library services will be answered via AskLIVE chat service or email/phone.
The IT Service area (Room 214) and Academic Skills office will be closed (staff in these areas are still working from home at this stage).
To allow for physical distancing Puaka-James Hight will be limited to 500 people at any one time.
For contract tracing purposes, and to make sure we do not exceed 500 people in the building, you are required to swipe your Canterbury Card upon entry to Puaka-James Hight Library (please make sure you have your Canterbury Card on you if coming to the library). You may also need to scan QR codes when entering certain spaces within this building. To save time, pre-register for the QR code contact tracing system.
Macmillan Brown and EPS Libraries are currently closed but will open soon as part of a phased process (we will update you as soon as opening dates are confirmed).
Libraries will only be open to UC students and staff during Alert Level 2 to allow for physical distancing and location tracking.
All online services will continue to be provided. There are additional services available for those unable to return to campus (see Library Covid 19 page for more details).
Please see the Library Covid 19 page for more details on service information in this period, Library hours page to keep up to date with hours changes, and also COVID-19 Level 2 campus access for information on UC campus access/use during alert level 2.
