Information Systems students in the UC Business School recently received a guest lecture by Jade Software’s Director of Technology, Dean Cooper. Dean is an energetic product and technology leader with experience in Product Management, Engineering and Solutions across a range of products and industries. He was a founding member of two fast-growing global software businesses, driving product and solution development in both companies, the second of which was acquired by Telstra.
In his more than 30 years in the technology industry, Dean’s career been multi-disciplinary in nature. This experience has given him a deep understanding of software company operations and the ability to engage with people at all levels; from detailed technical discussions to marketing activities to business development and other senior customer-facing responsibilities.
“Our programme’s ongoing relationship with Jade Software really enhances our students learning by giving them access to top-level industry experts and experiences that connect their classroom learning with their future careers” says Senior Information Systems Lecturer Dr Constantine Zakkaroff.
The course the students were participating in was INFO213 Object-Oriented Systems Development. This course focuses on the concepts and methods for object-oriented (OO) analysis, design, and development of information systems. This course provides an opportunity to follow a complete project development lifecycle, starting from system analysis, to design, implementation, maintenance and testing, using the Jade software development platform. The course places equal emphasis on theoretical OO knowledge and applying this to OO system implementation.
