In cooperation with Public Policy and Management Institute (PPMI) (Lithuania) and NFG Research Group “Asian perceptions of the EU”, the Freie Universität Berlin (Germany)

Main subject of this project

The main subject of this project is to provide a thorough analysis of the perception of Europe, the EU and its policies in various regions of the world, paying a particular emphasis on the strategic partner countries. Countries with whom the EU hold meetings at the heads of state level - Brazil, Canada, China, India, Japan, Mexico, Republic of Korea, Russia, South Africa and the United States of America. The study allows to gain a better understanding of the perception of Europe and the EU in various policy domains (e.g. economy, security, climate change, education, culture, etc.) and across different target audiences and themes in each of the EU strategic partner country and tailor future EU public outreach activities accordingly, so they facilitate a more meaningful and effective engagement. The mapping of the partner organisations, which could potentially cooperate with the EU in implementing its public diplomacy initiatives, is expected to increase EU visibility and capacity to reach the targeted audiences. Finally, the study defines specific indicators and rely on the empirical research, conducted during this assignment, to measure the baseline which will enable to assess and compare the results across different countries/regions, themes and periods.
