Crisis, Conflict and Critical Diplomacy
04 December 2017
JM Network - led by Professor Natalia Chaban (NCRE) - finished its second year in September 2017.
In September 2017, JM Network “Crisis, conflict and critical diplomacy: EU perceptions in Ukraine, Israel and Palestine” (C3EU) (2015-2018) led by Professor Natalia Chaban (NCRE) finished its second year. The first two years featured five research workshops involving senior partners and early career researchers from ten countries and twelve universities. Geography of the C3EU Network meetings covered Brussels, Darmstadt, Kyiv, Vilnius, Leuven and Kyiv again.
At the C3EU meetings, the research team trained in diverse research methods (media content analysis, elite interviews and youth opinion analysis with q-sort and Rasch model techniques). Every Research Workshop featured an obligatory element – dialogue with practitioners and stakeholders involved in the dialogue between the EU and Ukraine, Israel and Palestine.
The C3EU workshop in Leuven (April 2017) featured a public lecture by HE Mykola Tochytskyi, Ambassador of Ukraine in Belgium and Head of the Mission of Ukraine to the EU, followed by his meeting with the C3EU team. At the C3EU meeting in Kyiv (August 2017), the team discussed its findings with HE Jacobs Luc, Ambassador of Belgium in Ukraine. Dissemination events in Year 3 (September 2017-August 2018) of the C3EU Network are scheduled for all partners of the consortium – Ukraine, Israel, Palestine, Lithuania, Germany, Belgium, the UK and New Zealand.
