Ulamila Kura-i-Marrie Vakalalabure-Wragg
Kia orana and bula vinaka! My name is Ulamila, my father is from Natewa Bay in Fiji, and my mother is from Nikaupara village in Aitutaki, the Cook Islands. Living in the two cultures piqued my interest in pursuing this PhD. My thesis looks at gender, power and land innovation in both cultures. As I needed a multi-disciplinary Pacific-centric approach, I found Macmillan Brown Centre for Pacific Studies the ideal place for my research. The Collective, our group of post-graduates at the Centre, has diverse backgrounds and experiences and it is exciting to be part of it.
