This scholarship recognises the value of student athletes and sports in general to the wellbeing of the University of Canterbury community, and aims to support those who are representing at a regional and/or national level while studying at the University. Ten scholarships are available annually.
Tenure: 1 year
Applications: 2023 sport scholarship applications are now closed.
Applicants must be age-group regional and/or national representatives in sporting codes. They must be intending to begin their first year of full-time study in a programme for an undergraduate degree at the University. Applicants must have completed, or be completing, a University Entrance qualification or equivalent, and have studied at secondary level in the year of application (or in the previous year if they are on a gap year). They must be:
a. New Zealand or Australian citizens; or
b. holders of New Zealand residence class visas; or
c. international students studying at secondary level in New Zealand.

All applications are submitted online. The online application system will begin accepting applications eight weeks before the closing date.
