The “Queen of the Cosmos”, Beatrice Tinsley, graduated from UC with an MSc in Physics with First Class Honours in 1961 and was made professor of astronomy at Yale on July 1st, 1978.
Here she is seated in the front row, 6 from the right, of the 1958 Helen Connon Hall group photograph.
