MB44-116 Mesopotamia Station was one of the early settlements in the south of Canterbury. The Butler’s cottage is in the centre of the foreground, with the Campbell homestead behind. The Campbell family happened to be on the croquet lawn, perhaps enjoying a good game. On the right are two slab huts; one for station hands and a whata or storehouse on stilts. The early Canterbury runs can tell you more stories of early life in Canterbury.
