The New Central Library (Ngā Kete Wānanga o Otautahi)

In 2011, when the Council's Share an Idea campaign first asked what the public wanted to see in a future library in the Central City, they mentioned things like vibrant, hi-tech, loud, huge and open late. Christchurch City Libraries has taken those ideas on board and, in 2017, we’re going to see the opening of Christchurch’s flagship New Central Library, right at the heart of our city in Cathedral Square.

It may be three years away, but it already belongs to you. Christchurch City Libraries wants a New Central Library that delights Christchurch for generations to come, and it’s important that you’re involved in these first steps. Here’s your chance. With the library’s design about to begin, the Council would love to hear your ideas and your dreams for your New Central Library.

Have your say from Friday 21 March. There will be a kiosk behind the Information Desk in the James Hight Library where you can find out more and share your ideas until the end of the month. Or visit Your Library, Your Voice to submit ideas, check out the discussions forums, quick polls, news updates and more.
