Library Tower Race
13 March 2014
After a hiatus of 3 years the Library Tower Race is back!
The race sees competitors sprint around the outside of the James Hight Library then race up 264 steps. This year the race was won by UC student Patrick Turner in a record breaking time of 1 minute and 29.5 seconds. The first woman home was Kathryn McLardy from UC Research and Innovation who completed the race in 2 minutes and 5.7 seconds, taking 14 seconds off the previous women’s records set by Alicia Evans in 2010. It’s not all about who’s fastest, entrants are encouraged to dress up and prizes are also given for the best costume.
