World Digital Library (WDL)

was launched in 2009 by the Library of Congress and a number of partner institutions. The aim of the site is to create an easily accessible collection of ‘significant primary materials from countries and cultures around the world.’ There is content available for every UNESCO country, it includes books, maps, motion pictures, photographs, and more. Navigating and searching the site is easy with 5 browse options: place, time, topic, type of item, and contributing institution. Items can also be viewed on a map of the world with the number of items displaying by broad geographic area. The majority of the content is from Europe, Africa, and South America. The site is well worth a look.
