Friday Free Stuff: World War One resources

20 April 2012

The Cenotaph Database hosted by the Auckland War Memorial Museum holds over 125,000 records of New Zealanders who've served in the military since the 19th century, including almost everyone who served in World War One. New Zealand WWI Linked Open Data lets you visualise this data in chart form, and describes how they programmed this.

Other WWI resources include Mapping Gallipoli from the Australian War Memorial collection, and the Creative Commons licensed Songs of World War I on the Internet Archive in mp3 and ogg formats.

And the World War I Document Archive brings together a vast number of primary resources about the Great War - from official documents to diaries and images - along with short biographies and links to vast numbers of other websites.
