2022 Semester Two China Study Centre Registration Process

Applications for S2 2022 UC China Study Centre start now! Based yourself at one of our Study Centres in China, available to both new and current UC students.

Follow these steps to guide you through the application and registration process for the UC China Study Centre.

Step 1: Enrol at UC

  • Apply to the University of Canterbury via myUC
  • Follow the steps to complete your UC enrolment as an international student studying offshore
  • If you are a current online student, please complete the 'Change of Enrolment' process to add your S2 2022 ONLINE courses

Step 2: Make sure you are eligible to attend the China Study Centre

Please confirm enrolment in full-time study (at least 45 points enrolment), or request an exemption (e.g. you only need less than 45 points to complete your degree).

You can request an exemption by emailing: partnerships@canterbury.ac.nz

Please note the UC China Study Centre is not available for PhD candidates. Postgraduate student registrations will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Step 3: Make sure you fully understand and accept the conditions outlined in the UC China Study Centre Student Declaration Form

Once we confirm your registration to one of the UC China Study Centres, you will be required to sign a Student Declaration Form before arriving at the Study Centre campus. Please make sure you fully understand and accept all of the conditions outlined in the form.

Step 4: Register your interest for China Study Centre

Register your interest to be based at a Study Centre while you start/continue your UC degree online. Please note Study Centre availability depends on which UC degree you’re studying, and whether the Study Centre has reached its capacity.

Step 5: Register for accommodation for Semester Two 2022

Once your China Study Centre application has been accepted. To apply for your on-campus accommodation, please register using the link below. You won’t receive a registration confirmation after filling in the form. The coordinator at each Study Centre will contact you directly to confirm your accommodation and arrange for your arrival.

Step 6: Select your Study Centre courses offered by the host university

In addition to UC’s wide range of online courses, the unique benefit of UC China Study Centre is students can enrol in courses that are offered by our partner university and UC recognises credit.

Whether you are a new or returning student, you MUST choose at least one on-campus course at the host university. This can either be credit-bearing (able to credit back to your UC qualification) or a non-credit bearing course that you are interested in.

Students should contact your Faculty Student Advisor to formalise your study plan before selecting courses at the Study Centre. This is to ensure you have the approval to cross-credit the Study Centre courses into your UC qualification.

For business students, after confirming your online study plan with student advisors, please then contact Micky Lu from UC Business School Internationalisation Team for further assistance with your offline course selection at the study centre.

Tianjin University will only offer Business relevant courses (e.g. accounting, economics, finance, management, marketing). For those courses UC will recognise credits, please refer to the 2022 S2 China Study Centre - TJU Credit. Please fill in the online form below to select your Study Centre courses.

Huazhong University of Science and Technology offers a wide range of on-campus courses that UC students can enrol in, including economics, finance, management, marketing, computer science, mathematics, statistics, biochemistry, and civil engineering. For courses UC will recognise credits, please refer to the 2021 Autumn China Study Centre - HUST credit list. The courses listed here can be used as a reference and the available course for S2 2022 will be confirmed before the Autumn semester starts in September.

Once the course availability at HUST is confirmed, the online course selection form will open for registration.

Step 7: Complete your enrolment process

Once you have filled out the course selection form mentioned in Step 6, we will be able to confirm the cross-credit arrangement with you via email. Please note that students do not need to add the Study Centre course on myUC, as a special Study Centre course code 'ZZOX' will be manually added for you by university staff.

Step 8: Arrival on Study Centre campus

Normally students are expected to arrive during the weekend before the Study Centre host university's Autumn semester starts. HUST and TJU semester start times will be different and the confirmed dates will be communicated to you one or two weeks prior to the semester start.

New to UC or first time attending the China Study Centre

UC will host a series of workshops during the Online Orientation Week (12 July to 14 July 2022) via Zoom. It is mandatory for all brand new to UC and first-year students commencing their studies with UC. It is an important way to prepare yourself to start university, and learn how to access the UC resources and support services available to you, including e-learning tools, smart strategies and contacts at your faculty and of course meeting other online students.

UC Student Ambassadors at the Study Centre will organise pre-departure Q&A sessions for students who are the first time to attend the UC China Study Centre. Your questions will also be answered in the Study Centre WeChat group.
