HIT Lab NZ has deep expertise in all aspects of technology application along the Reality-Virtuality Continuum. We draw on this human-centered deep understanding to design effective systems for work and play. We are an innovative group which consistently produces high-caliber research and development. We focus on the following four areas:
Applied Immersive Game Design
We employ VR, AR, and mixed reality technology, to design and develop games for education, rehabilitation, entertainment and industrial applications that meet end-user needs. HIT Lab NZ specialises in idea generation, game structure, and interface design for a range of platforms, animation software, and game engines.
Augmented Reality (AR)
AR is the seamless merging of virtual objects with the real world. For more than 10 years HIT Lab NZ has been developing and researching AR technology. We have developed solutions for tracking, visualisation, and interaction in a wide variety of fields, including telecommunications, entertainment, and education.
Virtual Reality (VR)
VR is an immersive digital experience in which everything the user sees, hears and touches is virtual. VR applications are developed at HIT Lab NZ, for entertainment, tourism and organisational management, with a core focus on user experience.
The main difference between AR and AV is the notion of the “primary world.” In AR, the real world is the primary world, while in AV the virtual world is the primary world.
