Overview
The Engineering Management programme gives graduates with an Engineering degree or a degree in another relevant subject a real insight into the business world.
The fast-paced Master of Engineering Management offers small group classes, intensive learning, and a chance to apply technical skills in real-life situations. As part of the degree, students complete a six-month industry-based project.
The MEM is endorsed by Engineering New Zealand as a quality professional development programme.
The MEM consists of six courses and a project report. It must be completed within 1 year full-time, commencing at the beginning of Semester 1 (February) each year.
The PhD in Engineering Management consists of a research thesis (ENMG 790). Students begin on the first day of any month of the year, and take between 3–6 years full or part-time.
Students must have completed the equivalent of a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours, or another degree, with good grades in relevant subjects. The standard and relevance of previous studies are the main criteria for selection.
Students wishing to enrol in postgraduate study must have completed both the academic and non-academic requirements of the prerequisite degree. This includes practical work days, work reports, a workshop training course, and a first aid certificate.
The MEM consists of ENMG 680 Management ME Project and six courses selected from the following:
- ENMG 601 Engineering Accounting
- ENMG 602 Engineering Economics and Finance
- ENMG 603 Legal and Human Resources
- ENMG 604 Technology, Innovation and Engineering Management
- ENMG 605 Marketing, Selling and Service
- ENMG 606 Strategic Management
- ENMG 607 Special Topic
- ENMG 608 Special Topic
- ENMG 609 Special Topic
Intending students should consult the Engineering Management Programme to determine which courses from ENMG 601–609 will be offered in any one year and their subject matter.
PhD students will complete the ENMG 790 Engineering Management PhD thesis course.
